What is the Tiger Flower School?

ToraHana-Ryu, the Tiger Flower Tradition/School is clearly not your typical storefront commercial martial arts school, whereas it teaches and integrates the values and principles of the ancient Asian warrior (Wushidao and Bushido) code/philosophy to our modern Western society.

First of all, let me define and classify the terms Wushidao and Bushido. Wu/Bu is simply interpreted as war or martial. Shi means warrior but has a connotation of the Confucian ideal of "chun-tze" or the scholar-gentlemen - the ideal of society and model of propriety and behavior. Dao/Do is in its most simplistic definition ‘path, way or route’. Therefore, WushiDao / BushiDo, in regards to ToraHana-Ryu training, is ‘The Path of the Warrior Scholar-Gentleman’.

ToraHana-Ryu/Tiger Flower School is as much a philosophical study, and alternate health system, as it is a fighting science. ToraHana-Ryu seeks to preserve the “scholar-gentleman-healer warrior” ideology in a society that has a tendency to be bi-polar, either cruel and barbaric or passive and powerless. ToraHana-Ryu’s preeminent goal is to enable a student to become a Tatsujin. The literal translation of the Japanese word “tatsujin” is ‘vertical person’ (tatsu – to stand up straight or vertical. jin – person or spirit.) which metaphorically means 'one who does not fall or stay down'. The name ‘tatsujin’ is not only a title or status but a standard of living. The following Torahanaryu directives reveal, various concepts and ideologies important to the wushi or bushi will be defined and summarized so that the student can integrate and assimilate them in their life. ToraHana-Ryu is a modern esoteric fighting science that teaches kobudo. The literal translation of kobudo is the ancient/old martial way.

ToraHana-Ryu uses the theory of the Chinese Five Elements (Lao Hu Hua WuXing: Tiger Flower Five Elements) to address not only the combat context, but also interpersonal relationships, and self-development context as well.

ToraHana-Ryu, the Tiger Flower School is made up of three major components.

1.) The Fighting Science, which is the combat and fitness component,

2.) Tao Wuxia: The Way of the Hero is the Mental & Philosophical component.

3.) Tiger Flower Qigong/Kiko, is the energy-work/health and healer component.

Initially it may appear that ToraHana-Ryu is not for everyone, but on contrary the Tiger Flower School was created to assist each individual in following their particular path of self-development. Embracing the theory that EVERYTHING is ENERGY, ToraHana-Ryu invokes physical and universal laws to help the student reach his or her highest potential in their individual lives.

Are there still people in this 'fast everything society' willing to take the slow path to mastery?

I believe there are! Message me if want to learn more about ToraHana-Ryu, the Tiger Flower School.
